More than 600 of the Island’s primary school pupils will take to the Villa Marina Royal Hall stage for the ultimate singing extravaganza this summer, with support from local business consultancy Auxesia.

‘The Sound of Stories’ will take place on Wednesday 12th June and features a variety of songs from films and musicals that have been adapted from books, stories and tales. 23 local primary schools, plus two local singing schools and choirs, will take part in the mass singing concert.

Organiser Katie Lawrence, a music teacher at Ballacottier Primary School, explained: ‘The concert will showcase classics and family-favourites from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Matilda, Wicked, Oliver and The Little Mermaid, amongst others. It’s an opportunity for the children to just have fun and enjoy singing alongside their friends, without any sort of competition pressure.

‘I’ve wanted to bring this idea to life for some time now and I decided 2019 would be the year I finally put it into action. There will be a live band and the evening promises to be something really special – certainly a feel-good night to remember!’

Local firm Auxesia, which helps businesses to grow and flourish, is sponsoring the concert.

Belinda Watson, Finance Director at Auxesia, said: ‘The Sound of Stories is going to be a spectacular concert which brings children and families across the Island together for an evening of cheer. It isn’t a competition and the schools won’t be going head-to-head – it is all about togetherness and the simple joy of singing!

‘In our day-to-day business we support talented individuals as they strive to reach their potential and this is also mirrored in the community initiatives we like to get behind. We’re keen to progress grassroots talent across the Island which is why The Sound of Stories is something we should all be celebrating, helping young people discover the delight and excitement of performing.’

Auxesia is committed to fostering young talent on the Isle of Man and helping individuals follow their dreams. Alongside many others, it sponsors local tennis star Billy Harris and gifted performers Alice Smith Lois Mooney and Georgia Maddocks.

Tickets for The Sound of Stories are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s and are available to buy online from www.villagaiety.com or by calling the Villa Gaiety Ticket Hotline on 01624 600555.
